The Vow (Part 3)
I got dressed and came out, then I saw my husband and Mark talking, then he looked at me and he smiled… He saw me this time, he saw me!...Then that thought came; “I really hope he’s having an affair”…
“Hi! Hope you slept well?” he asked.
“I did, good morning” I replied
Mark couldn’t stop staring at me, it made me uncomfortable and I told Jack to hurry up so I could go to work early. He said his goodbye to Mark, and we went on our way.
The road was very busy, many homes had not recover from the storm. While some were walking hurriedly to work, others, were honking their horns desperately as if that would hasten the traffic. I kept looking outside the window, I didn’t say anything to Jack, not like he would listen. He had that look he always have when he’s distracted. I wondered what it was that was eating him up. Every time I asked, he said nothing was wrong and that I was just being delusional.
The Vow (Part 2)
He was so close when my phone rang, I quickly jerked back. My hands trembled as I saw the name on the screen; it was my husband…
“He… hello” I stuttered.
“Where are you? Are you okay? I hope you are not in the storm” I heard the voice from the other end. I tried to talk, but I couldn’t. I don’t know why, but I felt strange, there was something in his voice, something I hadn’t heard for a long time, I couldn’t figure out what it was, but I knew it sounded like ‘care’….
“Are you there?” he asked.

The Vow (Part 1)
“I promise to love you, even when I hate you. To cherish every single moments of our lives together, to make your snoring a sweet music to my ear, and to never complain when you fart. I promise to prepare you toasted bread and tea for the rest of your life because that’s all I know how to cook. I promise to love you and only you no matter what, till I draw my last breath.
That was the vow I took on my wedding day, and it can’t stop playing in my head. God! Who forgets such a wonderful moment? I did.

For the Love of My Mother
"Madam, 'dress' well. Na four four we dey carry for this bus..."
And before the conductor could finish up...
The Gum Chewing Brouhaha
One thing is to chew gum; Another is to chew it properly.
Ever taken a long pause to observe the faces of those that chew gum improperly?- they look like Yaba-left materials.
An encounter at a road-side kiosk was a bit of an eye-opener, for me...
''Aunty yo-yo'', as we fondly call her, was fumbling with her waist purse, in a bid to get the recharge card I asked for.
Inseparable
He stood there for some minutes, looking around to see if any one was in sight. She sneaked behind him from the hut, and greeted him with her warm embrace.
She leaned on him and whispered into his ears.
"I am ready. Let's not wait any longer."
Her tone was definite. The meaning hit him. The look in her eyes was like a flame piercing through his soul, racing down his loins.
They ran crazily through the shrubs, digging their feet into the moistened earth. She tried to keep pace, lifting the hem of her gown, for ease of movement.
They came to a clearing and fell to the ground. She was lying on him. He stared into her big brown eyes, embracing her soft, languid frame.
We Are The Odinas (Part 6)
Chinedu
"So what do you think of the character, Medea?" Dad asked from 'his seat'. He was dressed as usual, in a dark brown flannel trouser and a checkered cotton night shirt. His glasses sat on his nose, magnifying his eyes pupils as they looked at me.
Two days ago, he had given me a book: Euripidies Medea. A classic play about Medea, a barbaric sorceress/princess who kills her two children to exert revenge on her unfaithful husband. Quite an interesting read.
"She is quite complex. A tragic hero. She is royal, a princess. Her actions in the play show that she is very expressive. She deeply loved her husband, Jason, well enough to desert her kingdom and elope with him to his home country. She gave up her royal inheritance and even killed her own brother to protect Jason and herself.
