INSEPARABLE. (Rated 18+)

He stood there for some minutes, looking around to see if any one was in sight. She sneaked behind him from the hut, and greeted him with her warm embrace. She leaned on him and whispered into his ears. “I am ready. Let’s not wait any longer.” Her tone was definite. The meaning hit him. The look in her eyes was like a flame piercing through his soul, racing down his loins.

They ran crazily through the shrubs, digging their feet into the moistened earth. She tried to keep pace, lifting the hem of her gown, for ease of movement. They came to a clearing and fell to the ground. She was lying on him. He stared into her big brown eyes, embracing her soft, languid frame. She smiled back at him and gently drew him closer. ‘Let us stay here,’she whispered. ‘I am tired of running.’ He smiled in agreement, and kissed her on the chin. Her eyes was moist with tears as she spoke. “I can’t stand to be with him anymore. It is you I want. I want you to be my first.” As they locked their lips, she drew out her tongue to taste his soul. The sensation sent tingles down his spine. She shut her eyes and savored every bit of his sweetness. Their bodies aligned moving rhythmically. He quickly unbuttoned her, liberating her from the clingy gown. She tore off his shirt, sending his buttons flying. Looking into her misty eyes, he penetrated her. She moaned in painful ecstasy. He could hear a sound approaching the farm. He tried to free himself from her tight embrace but she held on to him. “We have each other,”she said, smiling. “Everything else is background noise.” Their lips locked again and their body melted into each other. The sound became louder, but they were already in a world of their own. She was his and he was hers, nothing else mattered. There was a loud bang and the earth shook. A second explosion roused them. But few seconds too late. A large sharpnel landed on his back, piercing through his heart and tearing through hers. His ecstasy turned briefly into horror. Then he smiled. A painful smile. He held her tightly in his arms as the red frothy liquid flowed from his mouth. She felt a sharp pain in her heart as she stared at his smiling face. Her heart began to pound wildly and everything became hazy. She heard his last words. “I always love you, even in the next world.” She replied, forcing a smile. “I am coming there with you.” They held on to each other as their souls were ferried into the clouds. After the storm, there were corpses. Victims of nature’s elements and the nocturnal enemy shelling. All around the village, wailing voices were heard. Mothers who lost their children or husbands. Children who were displaced from their families. The corpses were piled up for counting. Two of the corpses were fused, one on top of the other. Naked. The health workers tried all they could to separate them from each other. They were inseparable. ©Frankie Agba, 2015. Management: Kelvin Alaneme.
